Harley-Davidson Certified
NOVEMBER 2022 - now that we have the Motorcycle Safety Foundation new Rider Coach Program (MSF-RCP) in our rear view, our sponsor, Four Rivers Harley-Davidson in Paducah, KY arranged for us to attend the Harley-Davidson Riding Academy Coach Certification. Thanks to Bumpus Harley-Davidson Murfreesboro for hosting this event!
The training took place for 4 evenings, beginning November 14th thru November November 17th. It gave us insights to how Harley-Davidson administers the MSF material using the V.I.P. experience for their customers. It was great to have that exposure to help us learn to deliver the same material with a more customer focused delivery. Having already shadowed and attended the Harley-Davidson Riding Academy, this gave us a behind the scenes experience. Their program really focuses on the experience as a new rider and helps put aside any potential fear a new rider may associate with learning to ride a motorcycle. The personal, V.I.P., experience is practiced not only by us as coaches but the dealership and their staff as well. It creates a very relaxed learning environment and helps expose the new rider to the Harley lifestyle. Don't worry! Selling you a Harley-Davidson is *NOT* the focus. Though, there are perks at most dealers if you DO decide to purchase after the course. The history of the dealer and Rider Academy foundation built to educate new riders, is why we signed on to add this to our training portfolio.
We can proudly say, we have our MSF and our Harley-Davidson Riding Academy certifications!
WHAT IS NEXT?
Well, in Kentucky, our riding season is on hold. So, we began looking into options to put our newly learned skills to use and discovered the not so big secret of "chasin' 70degrees"...we headed South!
We left the cold and snow behind for warmer weather. We made arrangements to stay in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Once we had a base station, we began our research. After reaching out to a Harley-Davidson dealer just over the border in Florida we were invited for a sit down and talk. The Riding Academy Manager (RAM) was eager to add to his staff. After a half-hour sit down, tour and a long list of expectations, it was agreed that we would make plans to return and get into the teaching rotation for 2023.
Emotions are mixed. Exciting yet scary. A lot of moving parts to make this work. Equally, there is a lot of paperwork and a few more hurdles to jump, but we have a starting point. While we are still fresh from the training, we can spend our off-season - in-season in Florida until it is time to head back to home base and dive into 2023 at Four Rivers Harley-Davidson. Does this make us "snow birds"...we are not ready to commit to that!
Hope to see you on the road. If you or someone you know is interested in learning how to ride a motorcycle, even experienced riders, put them in touch with us!
Until next time...stay warm and thank you for joining us on Wheel Epic Adventures!
