Save Your Knuckles

December 2023 - This is for the owners of the (2022) Cherokee Alpha Wolf 26DBH-L, but any other RV out there might have this same issue and want to do this modification. I posted this in several social media groups geared to the Alpha Wolf because that is what we have.

It may be a simple thing that we don't think about. I know we didn't. The doors above the bed in our Alpha Wolf 26DBH-L are knuckle busters! The doors open upward thus requiring two hands to access. Often times, when you are stretched across the bed trying to reach the middle one it can be awkward. Reaching the end ones isn't nearly as awkward, but when you are trying to organize or put things away, it would go faster if you could use both hands.

Simple fix. Cost about $5. Save your knuckles and install these 8inch gas struts.

Due to the thin material the cabinets are framed in, you may have to add an additional support to the upright where the strut mounts. The door is fine, the screw is the right length. Installing the upper mount with the ball pointed outward made the strut more straight but it can be installed as pictured on the Amazon photo. Photos and more of our actual install will be on the channel and linked here when active.

All in all, these are PERFECT. We used 1 strut per door for now. Word of advice, DO NOT attempt to remove the clip that holds tension on the ball mount to the strut. We now have one that is broken because we thought that had to be removed before we could install it, as we have done with other struts in the past.

Our complete and detailed review will be forthcoming but bottom line, this is a must have for these doors in our Alpha Wolf 26DBH-L. Something they really should do from the factory.
